Joy to the World
We are in that special season
again, a season of joy, of peace, of great tidings. A season when we celebrate
the birth of Christ the King, the redeemer of mankind. But, wait a minute! What does Christmas mean
to you? What was the real essence of Christmas?
Today’s
Christmas is no longer a celebration of Christ and happiness, but it is now a
celebration of now a fake, Santa Claus. The Christmas of the past was once a
beautiful celebration of the birth of Christ. Families would come together to
enjoy the holidays together in a peaceful way. We must know what’s the real
essence of Christmas is. Christmas is not all about merry making. We must also
spare time to reflect on the essence of Christmas which is the true love of God
and humanity. Like what is said in the bible verse John 3:16 “For god so loved
the world that he gave us his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in
him will not perish but have eternal life.” So we must remember the real
essence of Christmas, it is not about those gifts, decorations, and lights,
instead it is the spirit of giving and forgiving.
“Christmas
is not just a time for festivity and merry making. It is more than that. It is
a time for the contemplation of eternal things. The Christmas spirit is a
spirit of giving and forgiving.”
